So I spent some time along the Moyie River the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, it was for work and not for pleasure (read: fishing). However, this looks like a mighty fine trout stream to me, and I got to wondering why it is seldom mentioned. Then after doing a little research on the internet, I find it is indeed a great trout fishery.
Anybody here ever fish up there that could give some tips/stories? I would really like to fish it this summer/fall.
thanks -

I fish it regularly!! I know it fishes best with flies.... but I haven't been done squat with flies for years. LOL There are some EXCELLENT holes up there. Far north near the Copper Creek exit there are are some good holes to fish. I also know a few access point that aren't on maps or anything if you want the nitty gritty. If you fish the confluence with the Kootenai some nice whitefish can be had. To get to some of the better holes, definitely just find a nice access point and start walking. River was at about perfect depths the last couple weeks. Later in the year it can get a little shallow for my spinners... you fly guys would probably like it even more then!! If you want a spot or two just send me a PM. I don't want everybody takin' my spots lol
