Saw this on Montana Wolf Huting's Facebook page: For our friends in Idaho, wolves spotted a few miles outside Moscow Reports say they were on Randall flat road, and were running along the side of the car. The grey one has already been shot and tagged chasing a horse. Fish and Game has given the horse owner permission to shoot the other wolf on sight for previously chasing the horse as well. Are all the pets okay over there in Moscow???

No the pets are not safe! Wolves have been spotted in town before. Go a little ways out of town and one should not be surprised to find a wolf here or there. Never seen any big packs close to town, but have heard that there are some on Moscow Mountain, just north of town.

Actually, now that you bring up this subject...
Wolf packs have been well established, and have made their presence known in the areas near Moscow - in Deary, Potlatch, etc. -many and frequent sightings. And at any time you could see a loner traversing a wheat field, or a couple on Randall Flats Rd. At the same time elk are doing very well in the Palouse Zone. Habitat is broken up nicely between thick forests, large agricultural tracks, wooded canyons, and pastures. Whitetail populations are out of control. Turkey numbers are high. Bears are doing well. It is very game rich.
But the Palouse is often overlooked for other more popular areas, and part of the reason for that is that there is a good chunk of the Palouse that is private property. Still - there are many miles where National Forest borders those private pastures and wheat fields, and they provide excellent hunting. It takes some time map studying. But there are a lot of opportunities to hunt in areas where the habitat is mixed, and where the animals travel back and forth.
