Well, a new year is upon us. Most of the springs seasons will be opening up in another month or two. Post up your successes here!

Planning to be in Idaho for Spring Bear and for Turkey (if I have time for both... bear comes first). Can't wait, hopefully I'll have some pics to share).

I can start it off with a friend. This is my pastors wife at 4 months pregnant. She nailed this 165lb tom just a few weeks back. Pretty excited lady for sure!

First day of turkey season was 20-30 mph winds, and couldn't locate turkeys. Second day was beautiful - calm and quiet, except for the woods were alive with gobbles. The turkeys eluded me until about 7:30 when it was about time to head for home. I decided to let my position sound like a gobbler party. I went wild with the gobble for a good minute or two, mimicking a couple of gobblers going at it. Shortly after, a gobbler below started responding, and then another one off to my side. The three of us formed a triangle, and we took turns gobbling at each other. What happened in the next 15 minutes was a lot of maneuvering, but to make a long story short, the gobbler to my side was coming in, while the one below seemed to be content to call back but stay put. The problem was that I was not in a very good position for a turkey coming in from my side, so I had to move to somewhere with a better view. My biggest fear is that they would approach from a wheat field that was above me, and I wouldn't see them until they were right on top of me. Well, that's basically what happened. There were two of them, and I saw their heads pop up over the rise in the field. Maybe 20 or 30 yards away. I had my gun shouldered before I saw them, but had to swivel a little bit to take aim. But I knew that once that happened, I would have to shoot quick or let 'em go. They would see me. I let the the first one head down the hill into the brush, as it looked a little smaller, and decided to shoot the second one. Should have known they were jakes by their behavior, but I got to notch a tag. Glad there is a second tag, so next time I'll wait until I see a long beard.

Oh yeah, here's the proof I killed a jake.
