headed out in then morning to try my luck. All the reports are showing that the B run #s are way down... hopefully we'll catch a break.
Anybody else catching them this year? Sounds like the Coho run was amazing!

Good luck! Let us know how you did. By the way - I think findfish.com has the best steelhead reports around. They are a good place to check out before heading down. I like the site because they are not overly protective of their fishing "honey holes," so it's really helpful. Their site takes reports from anglers, so you should go there as well, whether you're successful or not - they will appreciate it.

Okay, so here is my report on the steelhead trip: We had 4 people fishing on the boat and I was the only one with any steelhead or salmon experience and mine isn't a lot. We chartered with my wife's cousin Adam Hocking and his business Steel Dreams Guide Service. Adam is an excellent guide, has lived in Clarkston his whole life and has been on the Snake/Clearwater rivers his entire life. Adam reported that they hade been catching 10-20 fish per day recently. The Chinooks were still running good but turning colors and eating probably wouldn't be good. We put in at Hellers Bar and spent most of the day within a mile up or down stream. The bite started off decent with a keeper steelhead for myself and a wild salmon for another. After that the day was pretty slow. One of the slowest Adam had seen all year. Just before lunch the shift cable broke on his kicker motor making navigating certain sections very difficult or impossible. As the end drew near we had caught 2 more steelhead that we were unable to keep (wild) as well as 4 more salmon that were also wild and unable to keep. As were reeling in for the last time my wife hooked a nice 12 lb Salmon we were able to keep. Adam, feeling a little bummed about our fishing luck, decided we would take one shot at a sturgeon (his specialty) before heading to the ramp. He baited up, cast and within 3 seconds we were fish on. My buddy Scott took the pole and about 15 minutes later we had a beautiful 7'4" fish to the boat. It was an excellent way to end the day for sure. I'll get some pics up soon. To see some fish he brings in check out his website WWW.steeldreamsfishing.com or search for him on Facebook.

Excellent! Sounds like you got some decent fishing in, even though it was comparably slow - and had a great finish to the day! Looking forward to the pics
